605 BC The first invasion of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon in 605 B.C. First Wave of Jews Deported to Babylon (2 Kin. 24:1-7;  2 Chr. 36:5-6). Daniel was taken captive (Dan. 1:1-2) along with Jehoiakim king of Judah.
609 BC The Assyrian Empire fell to Babylon.
597 BC Babylonians Capture Jerusalem. Second Wave of Deportation to Babylon from Judah. Ezekiel is taken captive along with king Jehoiachin. (2 Kings 24:10-17).
586 BC Solomon’s Temple was destroyed by Babylon in 586 BC. Third wave of Jews deported to Babylon. (2 Kings 25:1-21)
539 BC The Babylonian Empire fell to King Cyrus of Persia in 539
536 BC Return to Jerusalem under Zerubbabel (Ezra 1 -6). Rebuilding the Temple. The “First Wave” to return to Judah. the laying of the foundation of the Second Temple in 536 B.C.
520 BC Haggai. Zechariah 520-518
517 BC The Second temple was completed and dedicated in 517 B.C.
484 BC The book of Esther Opens
465 BC The book of Esther Closes
458 BC Ezra leads second wave from Babylon to Jerusalem in 458 B.C. (Ezra 7).
450 BC Malachi 450-430(?)
444 BC Nehemiah leads third wave of returnees to Judah. Antagonists enlist the help of local Persian officials, including Rehum and Shimshai (Ezra 4:8), to appeal to Artaxerxes to issue an order stopping work on the walls. The news that Nehemiah received evidently informed him of the Jews’ unsuccessful attempts to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls in 458 B.C. (Ezra 4:23-24). The attempt to rebuild the walls under Ezra’s leadership had been stopped (Ezra 4:12-24). Reconstruction of Jerusalem’s wall begins.
