Chronology of the Restoration Period
About 150 years prior to the events recorded in the book of Ezra, Jeremiah had prophesied that the Babylonian captivity would last 70 years (Jer. 25:12; 29:10). There are various understandings of just where to start and end the 70 years, I have elected to go with starting the 70 years in the year the Temple was destroyed in 586 BC and ending it in 516 BC when the Temple restoration was completed.
