Dwight Pentecost articulated the standard premillennial, pretribulational interpretation.
“This seven-year period will begin after the Rapture of the church (which will consummate God’s program in this present Age). The 70th ‘seven’ will continue till the return of Jesus Christ to the earth. Because Jesus said this will be a time of ‘great distress’ (Matt. 24:21), this period is often called the Tribulation.” [Note: Pentecost, “Daniel,” p. 1364. This drawing is from The Expository Notes of Dr. Constable by Dr. Thomas Constable. Daniel 9:27. (Electronic Version). Note that they refer to the entire 70th week of Daniel as The Tribulation. Dr. Constable, who is a pretribulationalist, says, “The outpouring of God’s wrath occurs at many times in history. One of these judgments is the Tribulation (Matt. 24:21; Rev. 7:14) that will come upon the whole earth in the future (Rev. 3:10).” So, for pretribulationalist, the entire 70th week of Daniel is “the outpouring of God’s wrath.” The question is, is this what the Bible actually teaches?
